Sa7afi [read sahafi – Arabic for “journalist”] offers news and analysis about the Arab world and the changes that are shaping the “new” face of the region.
Phonetic Arabic internet slang uses the number 7 for the letter ح (pronounce h).
I am a deputy editor for the Al Jazeera English website covering stories from across the globe with focus on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the Libyan uprising, and Lebanon in the wake of the conflict in Syria.
Before joining Al Jazeera in 2010, I worked as Middle East correspondent for BNR, a dynamic radio station in Amsterdam, after having been with the station for five years as producer and reporter in the Netherlands. During my time as Middle East correspondent, I was based out of Jerusalem and covered stories from across the region and Afghanistan for BNR and a number of other European outlets.
In June/July this year, my journalistic career saw a short yet exciting change in focus, as I headed up the FIFA World Cup coverage for the Al Jazeera English website, based out of Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo.
